Eligibility Requirements

The following papers must be presented before you may file an application for trust assistance:
1.  Discharge papers or Report of Separation (DD-214) (Must show service dates and place of entry)
2.  Proof of residence
3.  Marriage certificate
4.  Birth certificates of minor children
5.  Bills for which you are requesting assistance
6.  Proof of income for last 90 days
7.  Receipts for all expenses for last 30 days
8.  Widow or legal dependant - death certificate of veteran
9.  Any other document that will explain your emergent need.

Base Eligibility

Legal resident of Michigan at time of application.  Discharge under honorable conditions.  MUST have 180 days active service between the following dates:
WORLD WAR II December 7, 1941 thru December 31, 1946
KOREAN CONFLICT June 27, 1950 thru January 31, 1955
VIETNAM ERA February 21, 1961 thru May 7, 1975
PERSIAN GULF ERA August 2, 1990 and still continue
POST-CONFLICT ERA Veterans who receive the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service during the periods of: 
January 31, 1955 thru February 20, 1961
May 7, 1975 thru August 1, 1990                       

If less than 180 days during these periods of service, veteran must show evidence of discharge for physical or mental disability incurred in the line of duty.  More than one period of wartime service can be combined to total the 180 days.
