Marquette County Central Dispatch was established on August 1, 1977, at the State Police Post in Negaunee Township, Michigan. On June 22, 1992, the County implemented Enhanced 9-1-1. Today, Central Dispatch receives approximately 20,000 9-1-1 calls annually (both wire line and cellular) and dispatches approximately 35,000 incidents to all police, fire, and EMS agencies countywide.

9-1-1 is more than an emergency number. People are encouraged to call 9-1-1- anytime they need police, fire, or EMS dispatched to their location. For example, a traffic crash with no injuries would be reported to 9-1-1.
